Mozambique Preschool - A-MAZE-zing preschool

Mozambique Preschool

A city is a place where a small boy, as he walks through it, may see something that will tell him what he wants to do his whole life. Louis KAHN

Indeed, a well-thinking architecture for children should help them be able to fully enjoy it, as well as constantly promote their creativity and enjoyment

From observations, we realize that their tendency is always to discover and experience new things and especially the diverse forms of space which is very different from the ordinary, sometimes, rigid point of view of adults. Besides, this preschool is aimed to meet various needs of children, especially disable and affected by social exclusion ones. That’s how we chose to build a school with flexible circulation.

The idea of the freely moving circulation allows children to use the school the way they imagine. The path to classrooms can now be done in a variety of directions. It’s not even like a walk but more likely a maze playground, which is more fun, playful and adventurous.

Following these diverse circulations, learning and functional spaces are now created more spontaneously and vividly. Children can define their places on different days, different activities, or different interests. This concept stimulates children's creativity and imagination. Also, it helps them, especially disable and social excluded children, become more autonomous in their approach and more comfortable in integrating with their surroundings. The preschool now becomes a small city where little citizens learn to interact with each other and with nature. We believe this will be a comprehensive way to give children abilities to learn and to develop in the future.
